Iterative concept and usability testing has proven this tool to be extremely successful at solving for a common pain point in a clear and intuitive way. Users are surprised and delighted to discover that AI has come to print in a new and exciting way.
Since the concept was revealed at HP Imagine in 2024, the Global Experience Design team and its internal researchers have continued to refine the tool beyond what is shown here. Currently in Beta, HP Print AI will be publicly released in late 2025.
HP’s Work Experience Platform allows Enterprise IT professionals to manage their entire fleet of HP devices - the only tool of its kind for Print and PC.
Over two years of iterative user research conducted as moderated and unmoderated interviews has refined the experience of fleet onboarding and management to be intuitive yet robust.

As printer technology evolves, so does customers’ expectations for setup and onboarding. The experience has evolved from lengthy and tedious setup guides to digital web and mobile app integrations to significantly reduce setup time and frustration.
Every touchpoint setup and onboarding, including unboxing, hardware setup, account creation, and promotional offers, are validated by the UX Research team within HP’s Global Experience Design organization.
The HP Smart App for mobile and desktop is the primary touchpoint for HP customers to use and manage their printers.
UX researchers within HP’s Global Experience Design organization have worked with cross-functional teams to ensure that the app is easy to explore and use. Research efforts have accelerated over the past two years as HP prepares to launch an updated version of the app, currently in Beta.
